As you date and consider the future, Dating on Purpose helps you solidify the relationship. Taking part in Dating on Purpose, whether in person at a church or watching our online video series, will guide you and give you more opportunities to create the foundation you desire, all the while learning and knowing the person you are dating to a greater level, leading you to know if this person is the one you want to pursue marriage with.
Dating on Purpose covers 7 topics that play a major part in any relationship. We talk about: healthy foundations, financial expectations, spiritual relationship, commitment to each other, relationship expectations, extended family, and healthy communication and conflict.
Each of these topics are so important to discuss before taking the relationship to the next level, but we know that it can be hard to know where to start on your own. That’s where we come in; guiding you through the conversation by sharing our own experiences and offering workbook questions to facilitate your discussion.

What is Dating on Purpose?

Healthy relationships are built on healthy foundations.
Understanding your relationship with God as individuals and as a couple is a part of building that foundation. Honoring God and honoring each other above yourself is a choice that sets your relationship apart.
While a discussion around sexual purity isn't easy, we believe it is an important topic to discuss in building your relationship foundation. Purity is more than just waiting for sex. It is a decision that brings you closer to God and allows you to lean on him in a different way.

Expectations – we all have them.
But we might not have a clue what they are, let alone how to talk about them. Yet unmet expectations are often the cause of most of the tension in a relationship. This session will help you discover areas that you might not be expecting to have differences of opinion and give you the opportunity to bring these differences to the surface.

A breakdown in communication is the number one reason for relationships ending.
We all know how important communication is, but that doesn't make it any easier. When communication breaks down, and it will at times, it leads to conflict. Conflict does not have to be unhealthy. Conflict is an opportunity to grow through a challenge, and if done well, come out the other side stronger.

Money and finances are topics that couples often neglect discussing until after they get married.
Your personal view of money and your spending or saving habits will have an effect on your relationship and your future. Learning to be vulnerable in sharing this often private part of our lives is an important part of growing together as a couple. This session is meant to help you talk about and learn together the role of finances in your relationship.

The Bible gives two unique statements about our extended family.
It tells us that we must both honor our father and mother and, in marriage, we are to leave our father and mother. The unique nature of each of your relationships with your extended families will be changing as your relationship evolves. This session will help you discuss the differences and involvements of each of your extended families. You will share how you were raised, your family's view of dating and marriage, and your family's priorities.

Today's culture screams "live your best life" and "do what makes you happy."
While these sound good, those values tell us that commitment is only for when it is convenient and things are going well. Relationships that work find a way to value commitment and decide how to love each other even in times when it gets hard. This session will help you to talk about your commitment to each other and how to move beyond "you make me happy."
